I am too critical of myself - Aashim Gulati

Aashim Gulati

The good looking and charming Aashim Gulati who is playing the lead in Star Plus’ recently launched show has definitely managed to find his footing. With fans and critics complimenting the actor, we decided to get into a tete-a-tete with the Aashim to know more about him.

“It was always my plan to be an actor. When I was in standard six, I had decided that I want to be in this field and have been trying my level best to prepare myself to be an actor. Before moving from Delhi three years back, I had been actively involved in theatres and now with my first show am looking forward to a great start,” said the actor.

Aashim has been compared to Aditya Roy Kapur for quite long, when we asked does it affect him in any way, he smiled to say, “Not at all. I don’t know why this comparison is there but I take it in my stride. Aditya is a good looking actor and it’s flattering if people think we look similar.”

With the show already having some seasoned faces like Gaurav Chopraa and Akanksha Singh we wondered if he had any apprehensions. “I wasn’t really nervous but I was scared that how would I look on TV. Since I haven’t worked before I was a little concerned about my look. I think I am too critical about my looks and performance, so yes it was a different feeling all together. It is a wonderful team and I am really having a gala time shooting for the same.”

Talking about his break on TV, Aashim quipped, “I did not want to rush into movies and thus gave myself time by doing advertisements. That gave me an exposure and post polishing my skills; I tried auditioning and luckily bagged this role. I think there is a very thin line between TV and Bollywood today, and it is a very good change. I definitely want to see myself on the big screen but want to be well prepared for the same.”

Talking about his dream roles, the actor shared, “There are so many, it varies with time. I would love to play Langda Tyagi and Ranbir Kapoor’s role in Barfii sometime. I don’t know how will I manage to pull it off, but would definitely want to play such intense characters.”

Aashim’s family, who he believes is over critical also liked his performance as he mentioned, “Since it is my first show they were definitely every excited and thankfully they did like it. They were honest and did not go gaga over it but told me that the show and my character definitely have the potential to leave an impact.”

And finally we asked the young boy whether he has ever used his good looks and popularity as an advantage. “Never! I think generally you require much more than this to impress someone. What really matters is how you are in real life.”

Good luck young boy!!!
