Actress Vanya Joshi is enjoying her comeback to TV with &TV’s Badii Devrani, as she essays the role of the Dadi in the show.
However, not many know that the actress had left acting in the year 1996, and was concentrating on her motherhood in Delhi.
So how did she manage to bag the role in Badii Devrani?
Well, Vanya bagged the role, courtesy Facebook, the very popular social networking site.
Yes, you heard it right!!
A reliable source from the set of the show told us, “Vanya was a regular TV actress in the 1990’s, with her last outing being Govind Nihalani movie Samshodhan. She later took a sabbatical and got busy with her kids and family. And just two years back, she decided to slowly return, and shoot for whatever she gets in Delhi. Hence, she got to be part of films like B.A. Pass and Youngistan in small cameo roles. One day, she got a call from Shashi-Sumeet Productions, who wanted her to send them an audition as she suited the character of the Dadi in their new show. And rest was history, as all fell in place for Vanya.”
When contacted, Vanya smiled and answered, “Yes, it is true that I was found one fine day from Facebook, and the makers reached out to me with this role. All the credit goes to the creative Hitank who was the one who had a look at my FB profile and wanted me here. Also, I heard Shashiji and the channel liked me a lot (smiles).”
Today, Vanya who is 52 years old, with her kids studying in the 11th standard and 8thstandard is over the moon, being part of Badii Devrani. “I am enjoying the role, and the show. I am grateful to the entire team of Badii Devrani for giving me this opportunity. In fact, I have to thank my kids who forced me to take up this role. My husband, mother-in-law and kids have been of great support. I have been juggling between Mumbai and Delhi, over the last few months, especially for my kids’ exams. I am over that now, and they will be flying down now to be with me during the holidays.”
