The talented Krutika Desai, who gave negative characters a different high with her shows Ram Milayi Jodi and Uttaran, will soon be back on TV in a very different avatar in Sphereorigins Mere Angne Mein on Star Plus.
Seen as a strict patriarch in the family, we asked her if this show would present her in a negative avatar as well. “It is not at all negative, but someone with varied shades. She is powerful and thus very insecure about losing it. She is vulnerable that she might be pushed into an old age home, or locked up in a room. She would thus do everything, right or wrong to help her remain in the numero uno position,” she said.
The actor is known for her reliability, which she has carried forward in this role as well.
“My grandmother was extremely powerful and loved us to death. But also made sure that we remained thankful to her for being so kind to us (laughs). She was really a drama queen and I sometimes smile to myself while performing, as I know she would want all the credit and money for playing her in the show,” the pretty actress added.
Talking about generation gap, Krutika quipped, “I think the world is moving just too fast. Earlier the difference cropped between a gap of twenty-thirty years, today it’s just a decade or even less. It is actually crazy how values and beliefs changes within just a few years.”
When asked on what does she feel can iron out the differences, the actress said, “I think to be able to be tolerant of each other can help in a major way. Being of the opinion that I am only right, can come easiest to us, but just stepping back and putting a second thought to any situation can make life much happier.”
So is shooting for a daily taxing? “I think once you get into the flow, you don’t tend to think much about it. What sometimes gets tiring is to memorize all the lengthy dialogues and mouthing it, then also keeping focus, give expression and also enjoy performing together at one go can be a task.”
The actress, who has been part of the industry for around 27 years, now said that she has seen it changed a lot. “Technology wise we have raised the bar completely but talking about content things did take a dip in the last few years, but thankfully now we are moving towards a better place. Also yes, money and working conditions have also become better bringing happiness for all,” she added.
Mere Angne Mein launches 15 June.
