I love being called the 'Queen of Fear': Bipasha Basu

Bipasha Basu

Bipasha Basu, the ultimate queen of fear, is back with her scare skills. After a string of horror films, she has made her television debut on &TV’s Darr Sabko Lagta Hai. No wonder that the crown of Bollywood's Horror Queen sits tight on her head for now. We caught up with the sexy lady for a quick chat…here’s what she has to say about all things horror. Take a look:

What is your reaction on being called the Queen of Fear?

Oh, I just love it. No one has been conferred with such a title so far. It is a space that I have created for myself. I have done a lot of horror films in recent years (Raaz 3, Aatma, Creature 3D, Alone) and the equity that I earned out of their success is what has added up and now I'm here with a good horror content on TV. In the West, horror films are huge hits. Horror TV shows internationally are big too. Whether it is supernatural, scary or aliens, they work in a big way.

Why this genre to debut on TV?

In the last three years, the movies that came to me were super natural and my second movie was the blockbuster Raaz. So there is some strange connection with this genre. And I have had some very interesting roles in the films that I have done. Horror is definitely a very entertaining genre. It is the best thing that’s happened to me. I did not want a normal TV show as my debut. I wanted something very different.

How difficult was the transition from Bollywood to TV?

Not at all difficult. Because the acting that you do is very important, not the medium. Ultimately, everything remains the same.

Are you superstitious?

Yes, I am superstitious. My belief that ‘cat crossing the street’ is inauspicious, so maybe I do too.

What are you are scared of?

I am scared of lizards. I am afraid of almost everything and I do believe in supernatural and paranormal presence.

Which is your favorite horror movie?

The Shining, Raaz and Raaz 3.

Your spookiest experience…

I experienced a weird incident while shooting for ‘Aatma’.  The sound recording technician and I kept hearing a girl singing during the sync-sound, but when we actually played the recording, it was blank.

How will you describe the year 2014-2015?

There were times when I have been insecure in life, but it was just a phase. Life is a bitch, it’s going to happen to everyone. Either good or bad, it will happen to all. If anything bad occurs with you, try to change it. If something disturbs me, I go to the gym. I like to see the good in all the things rather than the bad. Though it sounds boring,  I am a very positive person.

Wish you great luck Bips!
