In the charge sheet filed by the CBI, chilling new details in the Jiah Khan’s suicide have tumbled out. The Bombay High Court, in 2014, handed over the case to the CBI to determine whether the Bollywood starlet took her own life or was murdered.
Even though the investigative agency has concluded the case as suicide, Sooraj Pancholi’s (Jiah’s ex-lover) role in the abetment of Jiah’s suicide and the abortion of the fetus has gotten stronger.
According to the charge sheet, submitted to a sessions court on Wednesday, the actress was four weeks pregnant when she reached out to Sooraj to help her medically terminate the fetus. The actor, who was gearing up for his big Bollywood debut then, feared media backlash over this, and took her to a local doctor.
When the medicines prescribed by the doctor didn’t help, the duo allegedly approached a senior gynaecologist, who gave Jiah stronger pills to abort the foetus. According to media reports, Jiah started haemorrhaging due to the strong dose. Instead of rushing her to a hospital, Pancholi took matters into his own hands.
As a hospital admission would have definitely brought him under media scanner, he extricated the foetus himself and flushed it down the loo, say the reports.
This allegedly drove her further into depression as it took a mental and physical toll on her. Apparently, Sooraj started avoiding her and the possessive actress eventually took the extreme step of suicide.
Officially, the CBI has not revealed the contents charge sheet and only admitted that a case under Section 306 of the IPC was made out against a private person. Section 306 of the IPC deals with abetment to suicide and carries a maximum imprisonment of 10 years and also a fine.
Jiah reportedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan on June 3, 2013 at her Juhu residence.
