Looks like 2016 is indeed a happy new year for Sanjay Dutt, who’s said to walk out of Yerwada jail on February 27.
The Bollywood actor, who was sent to jail for his involvement in arms case related to the 1993 serial blasts in Mumbai, will be freed much before his actual term comes to an end due to his ‘good behavior’.
The actor has had frequent breaks from jail, which have earlier been criticized as ‘VIP treatment’. In fact, between May 2013 and 2014, the actor spent over 118 days out of prison.
In 2007, Dutt was found guilty of illegal possession of an AK-56 rifle and a pistol, and was sentenced to six years in jail. Furthermore, a court in March 2013 ordered him back to jail at Yerwada, Pune.
In his appeal, the actor had claimed to have possessed the arms for his and his family’s protection as he was worried about their safety during the bomb blasts.
