The 4th edition of CortoKino – the International Short Film Festival organized by the Department of Mass Media of Thakur College of Science & Commerce, begins today on 22nd January. CortoKino consists of a total of 10 events this year with the show beginning today at 10 am with the inauguration of the event along with Prabhat Chitra Mandal. The theme for the festival is - ‘A World On Fire’.
The various events being showcased today include the ‘CortoKino event’ - the main short film event that will have the National as well as International entries being screened; the advertising event – ‘Minute to Sell It’ with Cornella Popcorn, the newest popcorn brand in India, as the product to be advertised; the fashion show event - ‘Rampeprop’ where the teams need to incorporate a Hollywood movie within their show; the photography event – ‘Chromatic Disorder’; the silent film event – ‘Muted Transgressions’; the video editing event – ‘Aural Reversal’; amongst others.
The various celebrities expected at the show today include Akhilendra Mishra, a renowned actor who has been featured in plenty of Bollywood movies like ‘Lagaan’ and ‘Ready’; Rajkumar Kanojia, a famous actor in the world of Indian TVCs; Kavi Azad, the man who plays ‘Dr. Hathi’ in the hit TV show ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’; Naveen Prabhakar, the comedian who has won hearts across the world with his famous dialogue “Pehchaan Kaun?”; Vikas Gupta, the Casting Director who has worked with directors like Priyadarshan and Rajkumar Hirani and has casted actors for over 600 commercials; and Natasha Aranha, the owner, founder and director of the ‘Indian School of Media’; amongst many others.
The 2-day festival aims to provide a platform for media talent across the globe to showcase their love for the world of mass media through their stories and creativity and the chance to gain recognition through the festival that has a global reach of over 80 countries.
The festival goes on from 10 am to 8 pm on the 22nd & 23rd of January and is open to anyone who is a cinema fanatic and wishes to be a part of the world of short films, a ‘World On Fire’.
