Usually, setting up an acting school or organising workshops are activities actors do when they are past their prime. But actress Pallavi Kulkarni who carved a niche for herself through shows like Kehta Hai Dil and Vaidehi - Ek Aur Agnipariksha is organising acting workshops for wannabe telestars.
But why suddenly the decision to move to workshops from an active career in acting? "I want to share my experience with enthusiastic beginners who want to enter the world of television," says the actress who made a name in the television industry without the help of saas-bahu soaps or a back up from any big production house.
But couldn't that be done with her acting career running in parallel? The actress who has featured in over 100 television commercials explains, "All my contemporary actors are doing well, though none of them is working in television. Plus, the scenario now is very different from the time when we started working. The work quality and the money were both good then. Now, unfortunately, both are bad. The money is so bad sometimes that I would not even tlike to work."
How did the idea of a workshop come to her mind? "This idea of workshop came to my mind after I saw my good friend Svetlana Casper - a known ramp model -- conducting a grooming workshop. She encouraged me to start an acting workshop for beginners, and that is how it all started," says Pallavi.
