The creative team of Star Plus’ Mere Angne Mein (Sphere Origins) has now gotten inspired by the story of Judaai, the Anil Kapoor, Sridevi and Urmila Matondkar starrer.
Yes, just like the film, the man will be exchanged for money by the greedy and money-crazy wife... And the actor to play the suppressed husband will be Ashiesh Roy.
Well, in the coming track, the situation of Judaai will be recreated with Sarla (Ananya Bellos) selling her husband Ashok (Ashiesh Roy) to the filthy rich Nirmala (Shruti Pandit). The shell-shocked Ashok will keep protesting that his heart beats for his wife Sarla alone, and that he considers Nirmala only as a friend. But all his pleas will fall on deaf ears as the money-blinded wife Sarla will insist on getting him married to the other woman. She will even fake a suicide attempt, and that will force Ashok to give in finally.
Reacting to this sudden twist in the tale, Ashiesh said, “It is an interesting twist to events. I would call it a virtual first of sorts on Indian television. When I was offered this role, I was told that Ashok will be humiliated at every opportunity by his wife Sarla and the other members of his family, be it Ammaji or his own son and daughter. So it certainly required a huge overkill of my personal ego to accept the part. But I also realized that the role was unique. I am practically playing the wife in the marriage, with Sarla doing most of the manipulating and scheming stuff. I simply recite my scathing dohas and put up a smiling face to all her insults. The public sympathy is with me, as I suspected it would be.”
Elaborating further on his relationship with the other woman Nirmala, Ashiesh stated categorically, “I discussed this at length with my creative team, and we were clear that at no point will Ashok have any interest in Nirmala romantically. He will always be completely in love with his wife Sarla, in spite of being belittled by her always. It is Nirmala who falls in love with Ashok, not the other way around. Perhaps the very qualities of the man his wife overlooks, appeal to her.”
Accordingly, in the coming episodes, Nirmala will manipulate her way into the family, and will secretly offer Sarla huge amounts of cash, assuring her that she has a terminal illness and will die within the next two months, but wants to get re-married before she dies. And when she does, all her wealth will be transferred to Sarla. The over-ambitious and greedy Sarla will fall for the ploy and will excitedly offer her own husband up for marriage!
What will happen next? Will Ashok marry Nirmala? Or will Sarla realize her mistake and begin to miss her husband?
