Splitsvilla has been a big boost for my career,” avers Varun Sood as we settled down for a conversation with him.

With a towering figure and a sweet smile, the dashing Varun has managed to win hearts all across. Last seen in MTV Splitsvilla 9, the lad considers the show as one of his biggest achievements.

“Although I did participate in Roadies, that show was more about the journey and experience. In Splitsvilla, people saw the real me and I am glad they liked me. The love and appreciation that I received has been overwhelming and am flattered with the way people have been connecting with me on social media,” says he.

Sharing his ‘secret reason’ of participating in the reality show, Varun quips, “After Prince (Narula) won last season, people were of the idea that contestants who abuse or fight manage to win reality shows. I wanted to prove a point that someone who is positive, honest and play the game in a smart way can also win. I am honoured that I managed to change people’s perspective.”

The fitness freak also states that he was as real in the show as possible. “I am a very simple man who respects women. I was the one who stood against women shaming and I received a lot of appreciation for the same. If you liked Varun in Splitsvilla, you will like Varun in real life also,” he adds.

Talking about the entire controversy of faking a relationship with Martina (Thariyan) in the show, Varun shares, “We are really close friends and we decided to give it a shot. If it would happen it’s for good or else we were happy being buddies. Sadly, it didn’t work out but it was nothing ugly between us. Martina, I guess had feelings for Sooraj and she has moved on.”

When quizzed on the buzz that the show was rigged and he and Gurmeet (Rehal) were pushed ahead because of host Rannvijay Singh’s affinity towards them. “Rannvijay is like an elder brother to me. We come from similar backgrounds, have been to the same school, so we are close but we do believe in professional integrity. So all these were baseless rumours.”

Varun is looking forward to a career as a VJ in MTV and states that he is not greedy for work but wants to earn love and respect from his audience.

Wish you good look Varun!

Splitsvilla 9 wrapped up recently with Gurmeet and Kavya Khurana winning the trophy.
