Actor Abir Chatterjee, who played a small role of Vidya Balan’s husband in Sujoy Ghosh’s hit film Kahaani, says that he is hopeful that Kahaani 2 will do well and also uplift the brand of Kolkata.
Wishing the Kahaani 2 team, Abir said to Tellychakkar.com, “I wish all the best to Sujoy, who is a great friend. Kahaani 2 has some Kolkata artists who are playing major roles in the film. It has been shot in Bengal with some parts in Darjeeling and some in Kolkata. I am very confident that Sujoy will portray Kolkata in a different manner and that will again uplift the brand of the city.”
“I won’t say this is a perfect franchise. I think as Kahaani is a brand by itself so maybe they are using the name Kahaani 2 because from the trailer we got the hint that the storyline is completely different,” he observed.
In a humorous tone, the Cross Connection, Byomkesh Bakshi and Badshahi Angti fame actor also added that Sujoy cannot think beyond using his photographs in his films.
He said, “This time I am not in the film so I am actually waiting for Kahaani 3 as Sujoy has promised me and another photograph of mine will be there in the film. He cannot think beyond a photograph of mine.”
For the uninitiated, in Kahaani, Abir played a small role and also his photograph was used in a scene.
So, when asked if we can expect him in Kahaani 3? He replied with a warm smile, “Well, we (he and Sujoy) talk over phone quite frequently. Even that day he was texting me for some reason and we were like how about Kahaani 3! So, I am not commenting on the film as it was just a friendly banter. So, let’s concentrate on Durga Rani Singh (Vidya’s character in Kahaani 2) now. I am quite hopeful about the film.”
We too hope that the ‘friendly banter’ turns into reality and Abir plays a significant role in Kahaani 3!
