A good project is more important than mere visibility: Arhaan Behll

In conversation with TV’s talented actor Arhaan Bhell
Arhaan Behll

He’s certainly a man of few words. But he roars and shines with his acting prowess every time he is seen on screen.

We are talking about the very talented actor Arhaan Behll, who stunned everyone with his amazingly powerful acting display in his very first show, Mann Ki Awaaz Pratigya.

Extremely selective about his body of work, Arhaan always prefers quality over quantity. After proving his mettle in shows Pratigya, Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se, and the guest appearance in Ashoka, Arhaan is waiting for the right opportunity and script to make a comeback. The actor also hones great anchoring talent and has hosted shows Comedy Ka Maha Muqabla and Fear Factor.

Though Arhaan prefers to talk less and make his work speak for himself, he very kindly obliged and gave us time for a candid conversation.

Here is a Tellychakkar.com exclusive interview with Arhaan Behll.

Excerpts:

Your fans await your return. What do you want to tell them?

In the last six years, I have worked on more than four projects and have tried to do diverse roles. Now I think it’s time for the next level, a new phase. It’s a big change and the process takes time. I am sure they understand. I want to tell all my fans that I love them for their consistent support and endearment.

So how’s life been for all these months post Do Dil and Ashoka?

Life has been great, quite positive. I got an opportunity to break the monotony, unlearn and prepare myself for the next version.

You are very selective when it comes to your roles. What are the aspects you look into or consider before choosing a role?

I believe this is how it should be. Picking up the right project is extremely cruical. It shapes up everything and brings you closer to the picture that you have in your head. For me, a good project or desired work is more important than mere visibility.

Are you a director’s actor? Explain.

In most of the cases, I am a director’s actor. I mostly go by the director's vision. I like discussing things with my directors before we start, to understand and to accomodate fresh inputs. Our sole aim always is to bring out the best.

What’s the reason for you being cut-off from media?

There is no reason. It just happens.

How do you describe Arhaan Behll in the simplest way possible?

A good son (smiles).

How’s your nature in real life? Are you easy going or a bit complex?

Until one creates complexities, I am quite easy going.

What’s your relationship status as of now?

Well, I have got the same boring answer, I am single.

You have been linked up with Mansi Srivastava, your Do Dil co-star earlier. How do you react when you get dragged into such controversies?

I don’t react. Such things don’t affect me or my personal life.

How has the recent demonetization affected you? Do you support the cause or are you an upset country man?

I think it’s a good move and I totally support it. I believe that our country needs more of such bold decisions.

Do you believe in method acting?

Yes I do and I use the technique when I feel a little distracted, or when I feel the need of a stronger connect. I like the way Sir Daniel Day-Lewis does it.

We hear you are a great fan of world cinema? Is that your hobby?

Cinema means everything to me. Watching films of different countries is an enriching experience. I love to see the diversity, cultures that vary, passion for the art in different parts of the world and how each country makes films in a very individual way. The whole process actually captivates me.

What are your hobbies? Can you list them?

It’s difficult to list them, as they keep changing with time.

Are you a foodie? If so what are the delicacies that attract you?

I love food. From home made meals to cafe junk, I love everything and I wish I could eat everything (laughs)

Do you cook in real life? What do you make the best?

I make good stories and the best coffee. That’s it (smiles)

We don’t see you socializing too much in the industry. Why?

I just do what I feel like doing. There is no conscious effort on not socializing too much.

You have had a good run in the TV industry with few successful shows. What’s your plan for the future?

I never make future plans. I always focus on 'today'. I feel that I have just started and the plan is to continue what I love doing and to do it to the best of my abilities.

Do you have a role model or inspiration in life?

There's no one in particular. I get inspired by hard working people around.

Do you have any dream role in mind?

I loved Jordan in Rockstar. That’s a dream role, if you ask me. Besides, I would love to play a super thief or a mad lover boy.

Lastly, you have been in news for having signed up for the show Maharaja Ranjit Singh and also contemplating a show with Pearl Grey. What have you to say?

Well, all I can say is that I have not signed on anything or committed to any new project as of now. The search is on, and I will wait for time to put me into the best role possible.
