Here we bring a piece of good news for the viewers of the popular channel Zee Bangla!
Well, apart from the rom com Baksho Bodol, the channel is all set to launch a period drama titled Rani Rashmoni on the same date that is 24 July.
For the uninitiated, Rani Rashmoni is a historical figure. She was the founder of the Dakshineswar Kali Temple of Kolkata. She was closely associated with Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa.
Talking about the show, scriptwriter, Saswati Ghosh said, “Rani was an ordinary person but gradually, she became an extraordinary lady. So, in her story, there is a lot of drama. Her life can be divided into two parts: the first story is about how she became a Rajrani and the second story is about becoming a jogini from a bhogini. We are trying to cover both the parts in the serial.”
The makers have roped in young actress Ditipriya Roy, who acted in Bengali films like Rajkahini and Abosheshey, to essay the character of Rani Rashmoni.
Theatre actor Noor, who hails from Bangladesh, is making his small screen debut with this soap. He will be seen in the role of Rani Rashmoni’s husband, Raj Chandra.
So, what made the team to zero in on Ditipriya and Noor for the roles of Rani Rashmoni and Raj Chandra respectively?
Shibashish Bandhopadhya, who has done the research work on the subject for the show, said, “Very few people are aware of Raj Chandra so we thought about casting a fresh talent in the role. Moreover, Noor has a theatre background; he is a theatre scholar. So, this was another reason. After the look test, we were convinced to go ahead with him.”
“And Ditipriya is a darling. Right after the look test, we were convinced about her that she is the correct choice. She is very young and naturally not aware of a married life but she is hard working and eager to learn,” he added.
So, gear up for the show!
Produced by Subrata Roy Production and kick-starting from 24th July, Rani Rashmoni will air every Monday -Sunday at 6:30 pm.
The upcoming daily will replace Ei Chheleta Bhelbheleta.
