Ranveer Singh wants to be like Akshay Kumar
Actor Ranveer Singh says he wants to be like actor Akshay Kumar. Akshay had wished Ranveer on his birthday on 6 July and described him as a dynamite and a dynamic personality on Twitter.
"One word that comes to mind for Ranveer: Dynamite. Dynamic personality and vibes which always make you smile. Wishing you a very happy birthday and an explosive year ahead," Akshay had written.
To which, Ranveer replied on Thursday night, "When I grow up, I want to be like Akshay Kumar! Love you sir!"
On the work front, the Padmaavat star is currently shooting for Rohit Shetty's Simmba. He has two more films in his kitty Gully Boy and 83.
Rahul Roy returns as producer
Aashiqui fame actor Rahul Roy, who is returning to the Hindi cinema after a long gap with film Welcome to Russia, has announced the production of a new film under his home banner Rahul Roy Productions.
The yet untitled film is a social drama and will be directed by Virendra Lalit. Rahul said in a statement, "The film is on army backdrop but the subject is relevant to today's time as it deals with integrity, duty and honour towards society, family, country and fellow beings. The music will be by Shaan, Kailash Kher, and a few more singers.
"The film will be youthful and entertaining without being preachy," added the actor, who had earlier tried his hands at film production in 2012 with Bhojpuri movie Elaan on corruption.
Rahul is currently shooting for the film Night and Fog, an autobiography of director Tanvir Ahmed.
Ajay Devgn to essay the role of football coach Syed Abdul Rahim
Actor Ajay Devgn will soon be bringing the life of legendary football coach Syed Abdul Rahim alive on the big screen through a biopic.
Produced by Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla and Joy Sengupta, the yet untitled film will be directed by Amit Sharma, while the screenplay and dialogues are written by Saiwyn Quadros and Ritesh Shah respectively, read a statement.
Boney said, "It's amazing to see football, world's biggest game, having such a fever in India, and yet our team is not being sent to important tournaments. When my partners Akash Chawla and Joy Sengupta brought me the true story of Syed Abdul Rahim, I was amazed that not many are even aware of this unsung hero and the achievements of that great team which had heroes like Chunni Goswami, P.K. Banerjee, Balaram, Franco, Arun Ghosh among others.
On getting Ajay on board, Boney said, "An actor like Ajay is most apt for essaying this character. We hope that the film inspires millions of youngsters and soon India plays in the World Cup and becomes a potent force in world football."
Rani Mukerji to be feted in Australia
Actress Rani Mukerji will be honoured at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM), presented by the Victorian Government in Australia, for her contribution to cinema and for touching upon a social cause. The 'Excellence in Cinema' Award this year will be given to the actress, whose film Hichki focuses on overcoming a physical challenge with sheer determination and positivity.
"The power of cinema to spread important social messages and enact positive changes is unmatched. As an actor, I have been blessed to have got the chance to be a part of such amazing films that have tried to make people sit up and think about society, the need to preserve human lives and to value each individual’s dreams and aspirations," Rani said in a statement.
She said it is humbling to be honoured by the provincial government of Victoria in Australia for a role that called for inclusion and equality of all individuals in our society.
"I'm thankful that my body of work has contributed to making positive change. Hichki is a very special film for me and this honour as part of the colourful Indian International Film Festival of Melbourne makes it even more memorable," she added.
Inclusion is the theme for IFFM this year, and Hichki - which delves on how a woman doesn't let Tourette's Syndrome come in the way of her dreams - is a good fit.

Kajol unravels the poster of her upcoming movie
Bollywood actress Kajol, on Friday, unveiled the second poster of her upcoming film Helicopter Eela on her Instagram profile. In the movie, Kajol plays an over protective mother to national award winning actor Riddhi Sen. The movie is directed by Pradeep Sarkar and co-produced by Ajay Devgn and Jayantilal Gada. Helicopter Eela is slated to release on 14 September, 2018.
Karan Johar to make a sequel to Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
Karan Johar’s directorial debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hai will compete 20 years in October. It was the most successful movie of the year 1998. The filmmaker relayed the news during a guest appearance on Madhuri Dixit’s dance reality show, Dance Deewane, along with Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, the leads of his upcoming film, Dhadak.
Fan upset with Katrina Kaif’s behaviour
Katrina Kaif is busy these days with the Dabangg world tour. Fans who come to watch the show are excited to see their favourite stars and they desire to have a photo with them. Recently, when Katrina was leaving the venue in Vancouver, she walked past the fans, and as they asked for pictures they did not get a response from the actor. Katrina tried to reason out with the fans saying, "You shouldn't do that, guys. You know we are very tired." That seems to have upset one fan in particular who then told the actor that she needs a better attitude. The actress then obliged some of her fans with some pictures and then walked away.
Six years of ‘Cocktail’
It’s been six years since Cocktail released. It’s considered to be one of Deepika Padukone’s best performances. Today, as the film clocked six years of its release, its director Homi Adajania took to his social media page and shared a cozy photo with Deepika. Divya Dutta loses 'thousands' of Twitter followers
Actress Divya Dutta "suddenly" lost thousands of followers on Twitter. Divya, who currently has a following of 493,000 fans on the micro-blogging website, tweeted, "Aiyyo what happened Twitter... Sudden drop of thousands of followers in one hour!"
This is not the first time that a celebrity has lost followers on Twitter. In February, megastar Amitabh Bachchan accused the social media giant of reducing the number of his followers.
Her tweet comes after many prominent Twitter users across the world lost more than a million followers as federal and state agencies in the US started investigating shadowy agencies that sell fake followers.
On the work front, Divya next will be seen in Fanney Khan, which stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. The film is an official remake of the Belgian film Everybody's Famous!.
