Jay Soni at his candid best

From having debuted in Shahid Kapoor’s Dil Maange More to playing Ishaan Kashyap in Ravi Ojha’s Sasural Genda Phool, Jay Soni has come a long way. The show has been on air for more than a year now and Jay’s character has become very popular. “Though it has been a year and a half for Sasural Genda Phool, it still feels like this is just the beginning,” says Jay. “The sets are my second home. We all work here day and night and enjoy to the core,” he adds. In fact, he is great friends with Ragini Khanna, who plays his wife onscreen. “We have a great bond and have lots of masti on the sets. I also visited her house for Puja during this Diwali. I am glad that we are great buddies.” And he doesn’t care if his chemistry with her, leads to gossip.“Frankly speaking I am not at all concerned about such rumors. But if it does happen, Ragini and I laugh it out,” he says. So does that mean he has someone in his life? “Who has time for all this. I am totally focused on my career. After work, I go to Gym and surf the internet. I answer a few fan mails. And apart from that, I have a boy gang inside the industry whom I hang out with at times." This gang includes actors Karan Mehra, Karan Wahi, Gaurav Bajaj and Raj Singh Arora, reveals Jay. Together, they go on long drives and occasionally meet up for dinner. And what do they discuss? “Well, the typical stuff boys love to discuss,” laughs Jay. “In fact, Karan Wahi and I fight a lot, but these are healthy fights. The fun part is that in the end we always tell each other, ab to sudhar jaa.” And he is all praise for his friend entering Sony TV’s Kuch Toh Log Kahenge “ He is a crowd puller,” he says. On the work front, looks like Jay is too bored, playing the simple Ishaan and wants to explore himself as an actor. “Ishaan doesn’t like fights and wants things to go smoothly and peacefully. But I wish the character becomes tougher in the coming episodes and the audience can see a different Ishaan Kashyap. His brothers, who bully him at times, would be shocked to see him in that avatar,” said Jay. Speaking about the future Jay said, “I do get a lot of offers but I am not able to take up anything else. Also nothing is happening on the anchoring front. I miss Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs.”
