Playing a split personality is not easy. Because you would either go overboard or make a complete mess of it! Sagar Saini is one of the few actors who have been able to maintain the balance well, actor Rahil Azam being the other when he did Babul Ka Aangan Chootey Na. Sagar is currently playing Naresh in Maat Pitah Ke Charno Mein Swarg.“I must admit it is very difficult to play a woman! Though the creative team had briefed me about the character and I did some homework but the sheer amount of makeup and accessories a woman wears is impossible to carry on the set!” says Sagar. He worked on his body language, mannerisms and dialogue delivery. “Now when I am getting good feedback from the viewers, it feels worth all the effort I put in,” he smiles. He says he avoided watching any other characters earlier played on the big screen because “that would have affected how I portrayed it. I wanted to do it my way, with my style.” The actor, who hails from Punjab, was earlier seen in Jyoti and Amrapali. He says his son doesn’t like him dressed as a woman. Though he is happy with the unique roles he is playing, Sagar says he misses his theatre days a lot. “I wish I could do something on stage. But with the daily show demands, that looks almost impossible!” he signs off.
