I was thrilled to work under the Rakesh Omprakash Mehra banner: Neela Malurkar

MUMBAI: There are thousands of actors who play supporting roles to the protagonists, give the film a new lease of credibility, and areas, if not more, talented than the main leads. However, they do not receive as much fame and stardom as they deserve. In our Casting Call segment, we present a list of some of the most significant Indian television, web, and Bollywood actors who we hope eventually get their due in the future.

TellyChakkar spoke to actress Neela Malurkar and asked her about her journey and upcoming projects. We asked Neela how she started her career, to which she said that for the last 25 years, she was a junior artist. Subsequently, someone suggested that she go for auditions. She was scared but went to the casting agency, and she was then cast in the movie Simran.

She then starred in Rakesh Omprakash Mehra's movie Mere Pehle Prime Minister, and she was very excited and thrilled to work under such a huge banner.

We further asked her if it’s difficult to sustain in this industry. She said that every coin has two sides. As she is 75 and has white hair, people do tell her to colour it, but she says she won’t, as that’s the reason she gets roles. She is very happy the way she is.

She will soon be seen in Balaji Motion Pictures' movie Veer and needs to shoot for the last schedule now.

We asked her what advice she has for aspiring actors. She said that they have to struggle and struggle and that’s what an actor's life is all about. When she goes for auditions, she sees the young generation going and asking casting directors if there is any role for them, and they should keep this passion strong and pursue their dreams. She doesn’t encourage compromising in this profession.

Well, we wish Neela all the best for her upcoming project.
