MUMBAI: Vibhu Agarwal, CEO and the man behind the popular streaming platform ULLU, is often asked about his unusual choice of name for his news-making app. “I know the name is unusual! Earlier, people had also told me that the name is not good enough,” he candidly shares.
Agarwal adds, “In our Hindi language, the term ‘Ullu’ is frequently mentioned— be it in our daily conversation or dialogues incorporated in films.”
Having a penchant for running successfully running Ullu with his own flair, Vibhu Agarwal explains, “I also bear in mind the fact that what gave rise to the trend of OTT platforms in the first place is the very fact that people have started staying up late to watch more & more content. And, as we all know, an owl (Ullu in Hindi) is a creature that stays up all night. In fact, people regularly pass comments like, Kya Ullu Ki Tarah Jagte Rehte Ho!”
“All this has led me to believe that I have found a different name that’s also perfect for my app. And I am glad it has turned out to be such a hit too!” Agarwal avers.
