Indian television definitely needs more characters like Naira and Mishti

MUMBAI: Naira is one of the most loved television characters today.

Shivangi Joshi plays the character so effortlessly that she has instantly made a place in the hearts of the audience with her sweet smile and charming personality.

In every saas–bahu saga, the one thing that often becomes a mandate is being a good daughter-in-law. And how does one define being good?

Taking care of in-laws, making sure they have eaten well, managing the house, and following the decorum set by the elders are just a few things expected from every woman.

As the days pass, women are not only fulfilling their household responsibilities well but are also making the most of their careers. Today's woman is ultra-modern in her thoughts yet rooted in her culture. Naira from Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai lives in a joint family, and along with spending quality time with her husband, she makes sure that she does all that she can in the best interest of her in-laws. In addition, she makes sure that she is not dependent financially on anyone.

While Naira has already won the trophy of the ultimate woman, another character who is slowly becoming a favorite of the masses is Mishti from Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke.

Mishti is a romantic, and people absolutely love her chemistry with Abeer. But apart from romance, there is a lot more that Mishti brings on the screens.

She is a lively soul and independent in her thoughts. Her decisions do not depend on anybody, and she has a mind of her own. She loves Abeer but not so much that she would go to any extent for him. She works her way out with Abeer's mother and convinces the masses that one can maintain peace and yet do the things they desire.

We definitely need more such independent characters like Naira and Mishti on Indian TV. What say?
