MUMBAI: It is not only us common folks who are celebrating the auspicious festival of Ganesh Chaturthi but also TV actors.
Television celebrities are making the most of the festival by dressing to the nines and visiting Ganesh pandals to seek the blessings of the almighty.
And along with them, the makers too churn out interesting tracks around the festival, which symbolize that truth always triumphs over evil. Among the many shows is Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, which has been entertaining the masses for over a decade now. TMKOC has focused on clean humour along with delivering social values through its storyline. Water conservation, saving playgrounds, saving the girl child, eve teasing, blind superstitions, clean India, initiating sensitivity towards children suffering from terminal diseases, respect for the armed forces… so many issues have been raised and plausible solutions given. But every episode has been a happysode.
And around the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, we think that the makers should focus on churning out tracks that are not only about moral policing but also how the idols choke up the sea, beach cleaning drives, and other alternatives to worship God. Another way we feel the show can be made more interesting around this festival is by showcasing tracks around noise pollution.
Abhijit Jadhav, a grocery owner, says, 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one show that invariably every second person watches. It is socially driven and teaches us things that we subconsciously apply it in our daily lives. Yes, such topics should be highlighted.'
Abha Rao, a student, added, 'There should also be sequences on how ill peope and senior citizens face trouble because of the noise pollution. Smoke pollution is a perpetual problem, but the show can highlight how it gets so difficult to breathe!'
What's your take on the same?
