Censor Board rejects the word 'Pagal'; THIS actor’s grandson's debut film needs alteration

MUMBAI: Many Bollywood films have used the word ‘pagal' in their title and songs. However, now, the filmmakers have to think twice before using the particular word.

‘Pagal' is a Hindi word which means paranoid or mad or lunatic.

According to a report in SpotboyE.com, Censor Board has sent Bollywood a message albeit indirectly that they cannot use the word pagal indiscriminately. It's not if you use that word in lighter context (pagal ho tum, pagalpan chhodo), or say, in romantic context (dil toh pagal hai, main tere pyar mein pagal). The problem would arise if and when the word 'pagal' has been used in hinting at someone being clinically mad.

The portal further mentioned that the first to get the axe on this is Amrish Puri's grandson Vardhan Puri's debut film Paagal, produced by his father Rajeev Puri. Not only the title will have to be changed here, even the lines in the film where the usage of the word connects to mental illness, will need to be reworked on.
