MUMBAI: The winter session of the Parliament recently created history by making the Citizenship Amendment Bill an Act.
There have been several protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). In addition, violent clashes took place between students of Delhi’s Jamia Millia Islamia University and the Delhi police While social media was disappointed with big Bollywood stars not speaking out on the act and the violence, now Farhan Akhtar finally spoke up about the issue.
One of the most outspoken Bollywood stars Farhan took to his Twitter handle, and shared a picture describing what CAA and NRC is, and why people are protesting against it. With his tweet, he appealed to his fans to gather at August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai, on Thursday and he will be joining the protest too. He said, ‘Here’s what you need to know about why these protests are important. See you on the 19th at August Kranti Maidan, Mumbai. The time to protest on social media alone is over.’
