MUMBAI: Sona Mohapatra, who is a well-singer, has been criticized for opposing Rangoli Chandel’s Twitter suspension.
It was yesterday that Kangana Ranaut’s sister and spokesperson Rangoli Chandel’s Twitter account was suspended after her tweet violated the Twitter rules. Sussanne Khan’s sister Farah Khan Ali, Reema Kagti and many others had strongly opposed her tweet targeting a specific community. Now, Sona Mohapatra has opposed her Twitter suspension, saying she doesn’t believe in cancel culture and everyone has the right to express their views. She faced severe backlash from Twitterati for the same, who thought she was a ‘bigot’. Sona hit back at them, putting forth her point saying that she doesn’t need a character certificate from them.
Sona Mohaptra had tweeted, “Just read on my timeline that the ‘Rangoli Chandel-Kangana Ranaut’ handle has been suspended by @twitter? While I might not subscribe to all their views,I also stand by their right to express them.Let’s not be so ‘politically correct’ & quick to be offended dear #WokeSabha.” She further wrote that she does not follow Rangoli’s Twitter handle and has been vilified by her in the past. But she feels opposed the suspension listing he following reasons, “-We live in a deeply polarised world where one side just refuses to listen in to the other. That’s the worst formula for any progress. - Twitter could ‘force delete’ her hideously worded tweet. (Which I just saw) - ‘Canceling’ her all together only invites more such hate.”
A Twitter user slammed her and wrote, “She said line them up and shoot them? It was just a smidge offensive. Just a bit,” to which Sona replied, “Yes it is.I saw that hideous tweet just now.The rape threats I get from people here with twitter letting the handles remain has made me believe that showcasing those morons helps more. I do not believe in a cancel culture. As any kind of liberal I expect you to understand.”

Meanwhile, after Rangoli’s Twitter account suspension, she said that she has no desire to revive her account. “, I was my sister's spokesperson now watch out for her direct interviews, she is a huge star she has many ways of reaching out , a biased platform can be easily avoided,” she said.
