Casting Director Dhananjay Pandey talks about his struggles during lockdown

MUMBAI: From popular actors to aspiring ones, it is very important to impress a casting director. The job of casting director is very challenging. A lot of the show's success depends upon the casting. This profession requires them to be available 24*7.

In the midst of the lockdown, Casting Directors are working around the clock. However, this pandemic has changed the entire working cycle.

The well-known Casting Director Dhananjay Pandey, who is working with Jay Mehta Productions for quite some time now and has done casting for many popular shows like Jiji Maa, Gathbandhan, Jeet Gayi Toh Piya Morey, Madam Sir, amongst others, is making the most out of this tough time.

Dhananjay spoke in brief how the audition process during the lockdown has become too tedious.

He shared, “Well, due to lockdown actors are not able to come to a particular destination and audition. Hence, we now ask them to shoot from their phone and send it to us. However, there are a lot of actors who are staying alone in Mumbai and it is difficult for them to shoot themselves. Also, many actors are stuck somewhere and are not in a position to send their audition.

Talking about actresses, since they have not been able to visit parlours, a lot of them refuse to send auditions. The entire working cycle has been disturbed and we don’t know how long it will take for things to get back to normal. It is a big reason to worry as this way people will go out of work and survival will be a big reason to worry.”

We totally agree to you. Let’s hope and pray we sail through this tough time in unison!
