We already wrote about TV celebs joining hands to play a charity football match to raise funds for lights artists and technicians working in the industry. Organized by Vikas Kalantri, Karan Wahi was also one of the actors who went around hitting the ball in the park.
So how is he as a ball player? “I always play centre forward for it is the best attacking position in the game. I can run very fast so it is an added bonus when we tear through the opponent defenses to score the all important goal.”
This handsome actor has always been attracted by the game? “It is very fast paced and keeps the adrenaline rush going.”
However, he adds that “It is quite sad that India is so lowly ranked in FIFA rankings (144) and cricket still dominates the national sporting landscape, but I am hopeful that soon things will get better.”
Talking about ongoing, Euro 2012 tournament, Karan hopes that England will finally lift this prestigious European football contest in its thirteenth edition. “I know the men in whites have not lifted any major other tournaments (World Cup, Confederation Cup etc) in recent years as well, but yet I want to this unit to fire this time around led by captain Steven Gerrard and forward Wayne Rooney.”
Based on the current form of teams, he feels that either Germany or Spain are the firm favourites to lift the cup on 1July 2012.
And this Manchester United fan is not missing a single game of this tournament being played in Poland and Ukraine.
“Whenever we friends get a chance we all get together and watch the matches. The late nights (certain matches start post midnight) are affecting my shooting schedule of Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, but that is way things will stay till the finale. We will just have to make do with less sleep.“
So do your female friends get turned off by this football craze? “They also join us but yes they are not as obsessed with sports as we guys are.”
Well…Karan…have a blast!!!
