MUMBAI: People usually have a nickname and the family members prefer to call by nicknames only. Some of our popular cricketers too have nicknames but they got the same in an interesting way. Some of them got their nicknames from their teammates while others got from fans.
Read to know how Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Murali Vijay got their nicknames.
1 Virat Kohli: He was chubby when he was young. One of his coaches from Delhi thought he looked like Cheeku the rabbit from Champak, and since then, he has been Cheeku.
2 MS Dhoni: His nickname was Mahe, but once he gained some fame fans also started calling him Mahi. So, to avoid confusion he now prefers only Mahi.

3 Rohit Sharma: Yuvraj Singh thinks Rohit Sharma is the 'wise guy' of the team thus he gave him the nickname Shaana.
4 Hardik Pandya: He loves to change his hairstyles and lead a flamboyant lifestyle. Thus, he earned nicknames like Hairy and Rockstar. In the Mumbai Indians' locker room, his teammates refer to him as Rockstar.
5 Murali Vijay: He has got the interesting nickname, The Monk. Once he had shaved his head and ended up earning this nickname.
