Everyone knew that the late G P Sippy’s magnum opus Sholay will release in its 3D avatar on 15 August 2012.
However, it is learnt that the film’s release has been postponed due to unforeseen reasons. But, said a source, who is closely associated with the flick, “The changed date hasn’t been fixed yet. Earlier, the distributor and financer Jayantilal Gada was okay with the release of the 3D version at the same time as Salman Khan-starrer <em>Ek Tha Tiger</em> produced by YRF.”

However, it is learnt that the film’s release has been postponed due to unforeseen reasons. But, said a source, who is closely associated with the flick, “The changed date hasn’t been fixed yet. Earlier, the distributor and financer Jayantilal Gada was okay with the release of the 3D version at the same time as Salman Khan-starrer Ek Tha Tiger produced by YRF.”
Among rumours that the distributor is running scared of the YRF film that will release around the same time on 13 August, Gada cleared the matter by saying, “We haven’t postponed the film because we are apprehensive of locking horns with Ek Tha Tiger. The point is we are not ready with our sound effects. Work is still on.”
Insiders are of the opinion that since Ek Tha Tiger would be the first film in Bollywood to release on a Monday (13 August) and it would be wrong to release another big film in the same week as it would be impossible for people to watch both. “It is always better to be safe than sorry,” claimed a trade analyst on grounds of anonymity.
