Despite of the film doing well in the UAE, Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur (GOW) has been banned in Qatar and Kuwait-the cause- it is offensive to Muslims.
When we talked to Anurag, he said that he was not aware of it. He also said that the distributor there, whom the film was sold on a minimum guarantee, hasn’t complained about anything as the film was doing very well in the region.
Asked if he would do anything in the matter, the filmmaker said that he would better wait and watch.

Earlier, the first show of the film was cancelled at Dhanbad in anticipation of any kind of protest. But nothing really happened. “You see, most of the film (part 1) was set in the past and people there want to see current stories that they will get to see in part 2,” Kashyap added.
Gangs of Wasseypur (Part 2) will release on 19 August.
