Kanchi Kaul in the hot seat.

The protagonist's seat in Star Plus' afternoon show Bhabhi has become the proverbial hot seat. Dolly Sohi and Rucha Gujrati were the three previous actors who played this role. The current occupant of this seat is the comeback girl Kanchi Kaul. The producers (UTV) have now heaved a sigh of relief as the junta seems to prefer the new Suhana. In a brief chat with Mayur Lookhar, the pretty Kanchi speaks on her fruitful return to the small screen and what she did during her self-imposed exile. <strong> You've been into the show for barely a few weeks. The protagonist's seat in Star Plus' afternoon show Bhabhi has become the proverbial hot seat. Dolly Sohi and Rucha Gujrati were the three previous actors who played this role. In a brief chat with Mayur Lookhar, the pretty Kanchi speaks on her fruitful return to the small screen and what she did during her self-imposed exile. You've been into the show for barely a few weeks. How's it been for you? Personally, I'm enjoying myself. This joy is doubled with the increase in TRPs for the show. I would like to believe that the viewers have accepted me as the new Suhana. I'm getting a lot of mails form my fans who've appreciated my work. I've gelled really well with my co-stars. It also helps if you've worked with some of them before. Do you attribute your return to the boost in TRPs? No. It's always a team effort. No doubt the viewers tend to appreciate only the visible stars but the credit has to be given to all the people who've worked diligently behind the camera. You chose to make a comeback on a show which has gone undergone various changes. Were there any inhibitions before taking it up? None at all. I was aware of the changes which had taken place earlier. However, ever since I've arrived, the current track is very stable. As an actor, once you replace some one, it is important that you do justice to the character. My task is to ensure that the viewers accept me in this character. With the increase in TRPs, I'd like to believe that I've done a commendable job. You received appreciation for your work in Ek Ladki Anjaani Si. Why did you quit the show? I was not happy with the way the plot was revolving. Besides that, I had differences with regards to my contract. We couldn't arrive at an agreement thus I opted out. Were you offered a lot of work in the long break you took? Offers did pour in but I wasn't comfortable with any of them. There are various factors which I take into consideration before signing on any show. It's just not the script, but the nature of contract, and the people with whom you're working with. All things need to fall in place. How did you spend those days? I slept for long hours everyday. That is one thing that I used to miss when working for 25 days in a month. For the first three months, I relaxed completely and thereafter I did a few ads. For a television actor, this 'pick and choose' policy is never a safe option. Don't you worry that you could be alienated? I'm never concerned about what others have to say. I've always taken decisions which cater to my best interest. I've just bagged Bhabhi thus I don't think my decision has yielded any loss for me. Coming back to Bhabhi, are there any interesting experiences to share? We do have a lot of fun on the sets. It's hard to pick one right now. One that comes to my mind is a scene wherein I'm feeding my sister-in-law, who is pregnant. Actually, I stuff food into her mouth. She gets so stuffed that she can't eat anymore.
