"I'm graying quickly!" Karan Oberoi

Karan Oberoi has a dual responsibility. He is not only the actor of the upcoming serial Hadsaa he is also the co-producer. And Karan wouldn't recommend such a duty to anyone. But regardless he is gung-ho about his new venture. Karan, who has trained for four months in a special technique for the show, looks forward to his new venture fondly and in a candid chat with Tellychakkar speaks about his love and labour. How much of a say did you have in the final outcome?
Karan Oberoi has a dual responsibility. He is not only the actor of the upcoming serial Hadsaa he is also the co-producer. And Karan wouldn't recommend such a duty to anyone. But regardless he is gung-ho about his new venture. Karan, who has trained for four months in a special technique for the show, looks forward to his new venture fondly and in a candid chat with Tellychakkar speaks about his love and labour. How much of a say did you have in the final outcome? The entire project has happened right under my eyes. I've been actively associated with the show since it was born. Actually, I was content to play a producer's role but the guys insisted on having me act in it too. I had to give in! Has the going been tough as you saddled two responsibilities? It's been extremely difficult. I wouldn't recommend this dual role to many. As actors, we're often pampered by producers. Now, my co-actors, after giving their shot, head to their rooms but I have to rush into the production room. I've barely been able to sleep ever since this show has come up. Will you feature in every episode? I really don't know. What is your character like? I play Abhimanyu Singh who is full of life. He believes in taking risks. He wished to be a superstar at one time but circumstances see him joining the Special Task Force (STF). STF head Manoviraj (Mohan Kapoor) is instrumental in getting him there. Hadsaa is a thriller and yet the crime busters won't be using any weapons. How will they bring the bad guys down? There will be guns but we won't be making much use of them. There's a technique called 'free running' which you often find in Jackie Chan movies. I've trained for four months. This requires a lot of roof climbing, jumping from one floor to the other and chasing without harnesses and safety belts/cables. It's about using your body like a cat's. It's difficult to believe that the STF will manage to crack cases. We don't want this to be a hardcore thriller. Our mission is to solve a problem rather than finish it. We will deal in high-profile crime cases. For instance, there is a bomb blast. So, in addition to detecting the source of the blast, we also want to show the plight of the victim's kin. These are the human stories that we want to stress upon. How are you coping with the pressure? The other day my hair stylist was telling me that I'm graying quickly. There's always pressure. I consider it a sincere step forward. When you make something with your heart, it's seldom that you don't reap the fruits. If Hadsaa is sapping all his energies, then Karan certainly needs to save some for his future ventures. As always, he remained tight-lipped about them, All he revealed was, "I'll be producing 3-4 projects. These involve both fiction and non-fiction. All of them are original concepts. Neither of them is bought, acquired or plagiarised." We wish him success for all his ventures and some much needed sleep as well.
