MUMBAI: Presented by the talented Shabana Azmi, Mee Raqsam released last week on ZEE5 and is getting tremendous love and appreciation from the audiences all over the globe. This society drama movie is based on a father and daughter relationship and how society raises questions on the dreams of a Muslim girl.
This movie stars talent like Naseeruddin Shah, Juhaina Ahsan, Danish Husain, Shradha Kaul, and a few others and is written and directed by Baba Azmi.
Team TellyChakkar got a chance to speak with Shabana Azmi with regard to the movie. The actress said that this movie is really close to her and her brother Baba Azmi, as it is a tribute to their father Kaifi Azmi. He hoped for a film to be made some day in his village.
Sharing her favorite scene from the movie, which has been a major turning point in her life, she said that it is when the dreams of the girl are challenged by society by saying that she is a tailor’s daughter and how can she learn Bharat Natyam. But she proudly looks into their eyes and accepts that her father is a tailor.

The actress said that she sees potential in many present actors and a few of them can still match up with the actors of her time. She sees talent in Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, and Deepika Padukone, but her favorite actress is Vidya Balan.
