After delivering hits like Jiye Kyun from the movie Dum Maro Dum, Papon has been a voice to reckon with. After a successful association in the first edition of Coke Studio@MTV in India Papon will be part of the second season and will be seen in the next episode of producer Nitin Sawhney.
Papon will be singing the song Sahil Tak which means the water’s edge, the song is about crossing to a different shore and how the Boatman is the guiding spirit who ferries people across the river. This is a recurring theme in Nitin’s set because he was brought up in different countries and considers his parents to have migrated similarly; wherein they were taken across the river to start afresh in a new land.
This particular song underwent a lot of changes to suit what Nitin exactly wanted it to sound like. After the 1st rehearsal day, Nitin was not satisfied with the song, he left it sounded like a lullaby. Hence Nitin stayed awake all night to work on the song and at the rehearsals next day the band rehearsed to the new tune.
So tune in to Coke Studio@MTV this Saturday, 21 July at 7pm only on MTV and sway to the best music to treat your musical sense by Nitin Sawhney and his band.
