MUMBAI: Gaurav Chopra is a gifted actor.

While we have always spoken more of his body of work, recently, lost both his parents and on the other hand, welcomed his new born child. In conversation with Tellychakkar.com, Gaurav spoke to us about losing his parents and embracing parenthood.

Gaurav shared, “There is nothing that I can say that words can describe. Both the emotions are completely the opposite of each other and it's ironic that my parents were most excited about the baby, they were more excited than we were and they missed out on seeing the baby by just a few weeks. It’s just been very traumatic and difficult emotionally, physically and as a man, as a son, as a husband, as a father, I’ve had to focus on the things that had to be done and the responsibilities that had to be fulfilled. My presence was required in every situation and whatever the decisions that had to be taken. Suddenly when both your parents go away, which is a rare phenomenon, which usually is one person at a time, you feel very lost.

The way that you behave, talk or the decisions you make are directly or indirectly related to your parents. There are some things that they have told you that you follow. There are some things which they have told you and you don’t follow because you disagree with them. Suddenly when they go away, all the religious, cultural, legal, financial decisions that have to be taken, you realize that there is nobody around to do that or to tell you or guide you or even suggest that this is how things are done in our family and the tradition of the house. In my case my parents put up very high moral values very unlike most cases. Their way of living was very non-materialistic and very high standards. So I am trying to be their son as much as I can. Because of the whole coronavirus pandemic things are different. I have already lost both of them so I could not allow anyone else in the family to be affected in the same way. I had to be very careful as my wife was pregnant and I had to visit her in Bangalore. While I was performing the rituals and the cremation, I was also worried about the fact that just in about a span of a week, I will have to rush back to Bangalore, to where my wife is and I had to take care of myself and make sure I was not carrying any of these virus when I flew in or when I went to any of these public places. Places like Haridwar for instance, it is like there is no corona. There is so much hustle bustle and people are not even wearing masks. So it has been very tough but I have tried to be their son and tried to follow their footsteps.

A soul departing and a soul coming to life, gives an understanding of a cycle of life.”

When asked about embracing parenthood, Gaurav shared, “My baby is just two weeks old and so am I as a father. He is learning and I am also learning how to be a father. But being a father, the feeling is very difficult to express. There is an immense sense of protection and emotion that you feel towards your child. He turns in his sleep and I am alert. Happy celebration and abundance of happiness is lacking unfortunately but it’s all very emotional. The loss and the blessing is unexpected but yes, looking at him, he makes me forget the whole thing.”

Tellychakkar.com is sorry for Gaurav’s loss and wishes him a blessed parenthood. (Also Read: Gaurav Chopraa on losing parents within a span of 10 days, ‘My father was taking care of my mother since three years and that’s how they left, together’
