MUMBAI: As an actor who has always broadened his spectrum with the choice of roles, there is no denying that Ranvir Shorey is one of the versatile actors in Bollywood whose career trajectory has continually seen a rise. Be it films or web shows he has invariably managed to steal the limelight and has a made a mark of his own, with an impressive body of work a testament of this very fact. Once again getting into in his funny pants, Ranvir who plays a pivotal role in Disney+ Hotstar’s latest dramedy PariWar shared that taking up comedy projects has been a conscious choice for the actor.
Playing the role of Shishupal aka ‘Chutke’ the younger son of Kashiram Narayan (played by Gajraj Rao) PariWar , actor Ranvir Shorey expressed, “After a certain point I consciously stayed away from serious roles/projects not because it didn’t work for me but because I realized that people enjoy comedy and lighthearted content over serious and dark shows/films. That’s when I decided to go back to my roots, as comedy is my home and I live there. Sagar Bellary is a good friend and working with him after Bheja Fry along with such a stellar ensemble cast was something I certainly couldn’t turn down.”
With reference to being part of web-shows like PariWar, he further added, “It is a great time for artistes with so many avenues opening up because of the digital space and I feel that the kind of content will only just keep getting better.”
PariWar the 6-part series features an ensemble cast of the immensely talented Gajraj Rao, Ranvir Shorey, Nidhi Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Yashpal Sharma and Vijay Raaz in pivotal roles. The show is set against the backdrop of Allahabad and follows the life of Kashiram Narayan, a 68-year-old patron and his estranged family who is squabbling for their ancestral land which takes a rather dramatic turn.
