Kaka's bungalow now renamed Vardan Ashirwad

Ashirwad, the landmark home of Rajesh Khanna has been renamed as Vardan Ashirwad. It is said that it was the late actor’s last wish to rename the bungalow from Ashirwad to Vardan Ashirwad. However, the same could not be done earlier due to his bad health. The name was finally altered only a couple of days back. It is said that the super star had expressed his wish to his wife Dimple Kapadia, daughters and his son-in-law Akshay Kumar. At the time when his career was on the ascending, Khanna purchased Aashirwad from the late jubilee star Rajendra Kumar. Incidentally, the bungalow was then called Dimple, after Kumar’s daughter. When Khanna decided to continue with the bungalow’s name, Kumar forced Khanna to come up with a new name for his newly purchased residence. After staying at Ashirvad for about 40 years, Khanna breathed his last there at the age of 69.
