We had already written that Anuj Saxena would anchor a Big Magic crime show titled Pyaar Ya Dehshat along with his KKusum co-star Nausheen Ali Sardar. Then came the news that his production house Maverick Productions was doing a show in collaboration with Swapna Waghmare Joshi for Colors.
Now, we get you the news that the next big thing on Anuj’s mind is that he wants to return to do fiction. “There is something in the GEC pipeline, but it will only start early next year. Currently, I am busy working on the Colors’ show that also features Jay Soni. Apart from this, I also need to give equal attention to my ongoing super hit Marathi TV show Devyani, as a producer on Star Pravah. So, I will take some time.”
Interestingly, Anuj doesn’t regard his current Big Magic show as a test balloon or anything like it. “I have always been an actor and that desire does need to find an expression,” he avers. But will Pyaar Ya Dehshat give you that wider audience as it is region specific?
“Look, today, regional is big. Everybody wants to get into that bandwagon and I, being a producer, know how things work.” So what will the USP of this show be? “We will show crimes of passion restricted to our area of interest in the Hindi speaking belt.”
Anuj did also dabble in film production, but unfortunately all his projects including Aloo Chaat , Miley Naa Miley Hum and Chase sank without a trace. There were also rumours that his production company was in a bad shape financially. To this, Anuj laughs off and says,
“Yes I am in deep dept, no wonder people want to work with me. Remember, I come from a strong corporate background ( Elder Pharmaceutical ) but I am sure that my entertainment unit will not require any outside funding.
“Ups and downs happen in every production house; it is a part of the life cycle. Even big studios like RK Studios and Yash Raj Films have seen many lows. Compared to them, Maverick is just six years old.”
Any more films on the anvil? “I might start with it if I get a good script. But, my project would be a medium budgeted one. I will definitely not make a Rs 60 or 70 crore project. I am not that rich,” Anuj laughs off.
