Michael Phelps who made history in the world of sports kickstarted his swimming journey a little differently.

MUMBAI: American former competitive swimmer Michael Phelps who made history in the world of sports kickstarted his swimming journey a little differently. And there is a reason behind it. Read on.  

While one can learn and master any stroke first, Phelps ended up mastering the backstroke first. Yes, you read that right.

Well, at first, the swimmer, who broke several records, was reportedly a little scared to put his head under water hence his instructors let him float around on his back. That’s how he ended up mastering backstroke first.

With a total of 28 medals, Michael Phelps is the most decorated Olympian of all time. He tasted success at a young age. The sports star, who started swimming at the age of seven, qualified for the 2000 Summer Olympics at the age of 15. With this, he became the youngest male to make a U.S. Olympic swim team in 68 years.
