At a time when most TV shows are going off air pretty fast, Sahara One’s Rishton Ke Bhanwar Mein Uljhi Niyati continues to hang on despite bagging low TRPs. This Creative Eye Limited presentation has already reached 430 episodes and lead actress Jayshree Soni is hopeful that, “with good fate (show’s premise Niyati), we will at least cross the 500 mark.”
So what makes your show go on? “I guess it is because of the realism among all the inter-personal relations that we show on screen, ”says Jayshree.” But your character has re-married someone she does not love and your dead first husband Ambar (Sachin Shroff) is also making a comeback. Is this not over-the-top drama? “Yes, but you need to understand that you just can’t show episodes in which the family is sitting for lunch or going out for a picnic, a certain amount of drama is demanded of the audience. Also, have we not seen real life cases where people have had more than one marriage? “
Jayshree, who began with Ganga on Colors, also does not duck the question on Sahara One’s reach. “I do agree that our channel does not have enough GRPs. Actually you can’t compare the channel with any other GEC. I would have loved more TRPs for Niyati but more people will watch my show only if more people tune into the channel.
“Having said that, I am very grateful to Sahara for having selected me as Niyati. Had the same show been on some other channel, maybe I would not have been chosen as the lead girl. Also Niyati has given me a new identity. People have forgotten Ganga and now remember me as my current character,” she concludes .
