MUMBAI: The actor who drew all the attention towards himself with the movie Tumbbad, Sohum Shah is now all set to play Lalu Prasad Yadav in an upcoming political drama for SonyLiv. The actor who was last seen in espionage drama Bard of Blood, will now be seen as a politician in his next. The series is expected to release early next year.
The series is tentatively titled Maharani. Sohum and Huma Qureshi star in lead roles in the web series, directed by Shubash Kapoor. Maharani is a social satire and Sohum and Huma have started shooting for the series in Bhopal. The show will stream on SonyLiv.

According to a source, Sohum Shah will play Lalu Prasad Yadav in Maharani, which will release in either January or February 2021. The actor has gained 12 kg to play the former Chief Minister of Bihar.
Sohum Shah is known to play different roles on screen. Sohum was last seen in Netflix series Bard of Blood, where he played Emraan Hashmi's friend Vikramjeet. He is known for his exceptional performance in Tumbbad and Ship of Theseus. Sohum will next be seen in The Big Bull, starring Abhishek Bachchan and Ileana D'Cruz. Sohum had to undergo intense preparations for his character in the film.
