The Power Review: This gang war Drama drops at many points

MUMBAI: Vidyut Jammwal starrer 'The Power' finally premiered today and here is the full review of the movie

Action actor Vidyut Jammwal is back with another action-packed thriller, and this time with the dose of family love, Drama and revenge, with the movie titled The Power, which stars some amazing talents such as, Vidyut Jammwal, Shruti Haasan, Mahesh V Manjrekar, Medha Manjrekar, Jisshu Sengupta, Zakir Hussain, Yuvika Chaudhary, Prateik Babbar, Sachin Khedekar, Sudhanshu Pandey and is directed by Mahesh V Manjrekar

The story speaks about the godfather of the town Kali Das Thakur played by Mahesh V Manjrekar and his family, but like every godfather there more enemies than friends, and on the other hand, Devi Das Thakur who will do anything and everything to protect his family, what challenges Kali Das and his sons faces and how the family survives in this world with enemies is how the story flows. The story is like any other gangster story and this movie has nothing much to offer other than a handful of performances.

The screenplay of the movie is pretty decent and the movie takes a good start but gradually the screenplay loses in between where you may get bored, and the direction by Mahesh V Manjrekar is strictly average.

Being the Gangster movie and the gun sequences and the fight sequences should be the highlight of the movie, but the action is very decent and the action star Vidyut Jammwal in the movie was not used fully and the action was understated.

Talking about the performances, there are few names who drove the movie on their shoulder, actor Vidyut Jammwal was decent on his side as the intense Devi Das Thakur, whereas it was a treat to watch Jisshu Sengupta, Jisshu delivered one of his best in this movie, Shruti Haasan was strictly average in the movie, on the other hand, other casts like Mahesh V Manjrekar, Medha Manjrekar, Zakir Hussain, Yuvika Chaudhary, Prateik Babbar, Sachin Khedekar, Sudhanshu Pandey were pretty decent.

The positives point of the movie can be the first half of the movie where the build-up towards the plot was very done and the flow of the story keep the attention of the audiences intact, also as mentioned earlier performance delivered by Jisshu Sengupta was good and was a treat to watch him, and also the intensity brought by actor Vidyut Jammwal on screens was pretty good.

The negative point of the movie is majorly the story, which nothing new to offer and the Gangster revenge Drama we will see in this movie, we have seen earlier several times, also the major let down by the movie is been action star Vidyut Jammwal present in the movie he is been underused and the action too is very average.

In Spite of all these negative points, the movie may hold your attention at a few portions and drops at many points.

Team TellyChakkar goes with 2.5 stars with “The Power”, you can stream this action thriller on Zeeplex.
