“This is the first time I came last in a running race” says Rana Daggubati on his experience on Mission Frontline

MUMBAI: Rana Daggubati who is featuring in discovery+ ’ forthcoming documentary ‘Mission Frontline’ launching on 21st Jan, in a candid conversation shared the special moments he spent with the BSF Jawans and realized how tough and hard the lives of Border Security Forces (BSF) personnel are, when he shot at Murar Post, Jaisalmer for the special.

Rana Daggubati said, “In most films, if we are playing some character, we get to spend time with them. However, this is completely different- just being with the border men at their place of work. I got to do a simulated mission through this entire thing, so you pretty much get to see everything very up close and that was very unique for me.”

Further revealing a secret, Rana shared, “This is the first time I came last in a running race! I felt that this is the real deal. The film I am shooting right now, has a similar costume but there, I am always the guy leading. On the film sets, I am usually the fittest guy, I run forward, and others are trying to catch up. But here it is like, this is the real stuff and it’s so different.”

Talking about the unique tasks and drills he performed for Mission Frontline, Rana said, “The first was a track race which was about three and a half kilometers, and we had to complete it in around 14-15 minutes. After that, we went into eight-foot jumps, all of this while carrying the weapons. It then moved into the fireman drill, lifting another jawan on the shoulder. Post that, I got to patrol the borders, with the legendary camel patrol that the Indian BSF uses very finely in the deserts.”

In this special documentary, the audience will get to see Rana Daggubati in a never-seen-before avatar, performing tasks just like a Jawan. Having this once in a lifetime opportunity of living with the security forces, training with them, eating with them, Rana helps take these stories to the people of India, giving them a chance to be inspired by these real-life heroes.
