Manoj Bajpayee is all set to join the ranks of actors who have turned producers.
Confirming the same Manoj tells us, "My friend Akashdeep and I have almost decided on the script. We'll be making an announcement soon."
About his decision to turn producer, Manoj avers, "I've been in the industry for some time now and Akashdeep will market my experience for me. I put a lot into projects I select. Turning producer will help me make the kind of cinema that I want to."
Manoj’s first production will feature him, but that will not be the norm for all projects. "As we go ahead, it will depend on the projects as they come. It's not necessary that I'll be a part of every film that I produce," he confirms.
Here it may be mentioned that Manoj had once thought of turning producer for Kashyap's unreleased project Paanch.
After writing many path breaking scripts, Kashyap was supposed to make his debut as a director with Paanch in 2003 but the film ran into trouble with the Censor board and could not see the silver screen till date.
It was loosely based on the 1976-77 Joshi-Abhyankar serial murders in Pune. "That was the time when I was not just planning to act in the film, but also co-produce it. He had written three career changing films for me, Satya, Kaun, Shool. After he narrated Paanch to me, I loved it," Bajpai maintains. But after some misunderstandings developed between the two, they did not work with each other for quite some time. It is only in Gangs of Wasseypur did they unite.
Here it must be mentioned that Manoj’s role in Gangs of Wasseypur has been admired and so was his performances in subsequent films like Chittagong and Chakravyuh.
