MUMBAI: With the second wave of Covid-19 hitting hard, will the film and TV industry avoid children on set?
JD Majethia from the 'Indian Film and Television Council' is of the opinion that the industry should go back to the previous government guidelines. He said, "Children below 10 years should not be allowed to shoot on set as the second wave is severe and children are getting infected.''.
On being asked if CINTAA plans to issue any directive to avoid kids on sets, Amit Behl said, "Nothing yet but when the time and need arise, in due consultation with all stakeholders including the Ministry of women and child welfare. CINTAA can never and will take any individual calls, it has to be within the framework of the ecosystem especially when there is such a pandemic affecting everyone. We look for the welfare of all our members within the framework of the constitution & we will share SOPs & guidelines with stakeholders, these guidelines are going to be issued by M & E sectors from the USA, England, etc.''.
However, the parents of two popular TV child artistes - Miasha Dixit and Tanmay Rishi Shah have different opinions. Vidhi Shah - Tanmay's mother said, "I am not sending my son to shoot these times but it differs from parent to parent.".
But Maisha Dixit, who has just started shooting for a show titled Nikki Aur Jadui Bubble, may have to shoot for the show considering she is playing the lead in it.
The nine-year-old's mother Neha said, "We will have to shoot as the serial has just gone on air, the makers were planning to take the shoot outside of Maharashtra first it was planned for Manali but there is a change and now it may be in Daman Diu. We are going to take extra care with all the sanitization. In fact, we have cut down on our staff to avoid crowding on set.".
