Smile, you are on camera!

Hiten Tejwani
These days, when you go to buy a cell phone, the first thing you are most likely to ask for is a fancy camera. Ever since mobile phones happened to our lives and ever since mobile phones with in-built cameras happened to us, everyone, almost everyone has become a photographer. A beautiful sunset, impromptu birthday parties, spotting of a star (mostly, the celluloid variety), a blossoming flower, a multi-hued bird, a newborn baby, just about anything that comes in the way of you and your phone camera gets clicked, till your handset lets you or possibly till you lose or buy another fancy phone! People want to shoot everything with that camera phone. But then technology rarely comes without its disadvantages and so you have perverts using the mobile phone for entirely wrong reasons. Heard of MMS? The next thing you know is a seemingly candid picture could be doing the rounds of a website. A beautiful private moment could be suddenly up for public consumption. Why, even those in the glamour industry can’t escape these pesky cameras which an eager fan or a complete stranger could capture you when you are out watching a film or shopping at a mall…And so most of us have no choice but to grin and bear it. One of my friends once told me that he saw my pictures on some phone on sale in a shop. And apparently the shopkeeper was proudly announcing that it was Hiten Tejwani’s and the pictures were his proof. I remembered I had sold that phone but had forgotten to delete the pictures. Luckily for me, I don't click pictures on my phone and my trainer had clicked those in the gym and I had no idea about it. Moral of the story...don't click pictures on your phone and if you do be careful to delete them, lest it lands in wrong hands. As they say, a picture speaks a thousand words but you don’t want a ‘wrong’ picture talking!
