MUMBAI: Legendary cricketer Kapil Dev’s biopic '83 is a much-awaited film. Fans are eagerly waiting to watch the film, however, the release date has yet again got postponed.
As you wait for the film, here’s an interesting fact about '83.
Kapil Dev was initially not in the favour of making '83. Yes, you read that right!
Well, Ranveer Singh, who is known for films like Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Gully Boy and Simmba, will be seen playing the role of Kapil Dev in '83 while Deepika Padukone will be seen as Romi Dev.
Kapil Dev was wondering how the actor would justify his role, but later, after meeting the actor, his thoughts changed completely.

Kapil Dev was asked about his wife Romi and his reaction on learning that Ranveer and Deepika would be playing them in the film. "I was a little scared. I thought he is an actor. You are copying somebody in sports and athleticism. Does he have that much? But, when I spent time with him, I was amazed by how much time he spent. Last summer in June and July, he spent around eight hours on the cricket ground and I used to get scared. I would say he is not 20 years old, he should not get injured. I was worried about that. I think that's where the artiste and the actor come out. They know what to do and how to do it,” said Kapil Dev.
The film '83 is directed by Kabir Khan. Bankrolled by Reliance Entertainment, the film also stars Harrdy Sandhu, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Amrita Puri, Jiiva, Ammy Virk, Pankaj Tripathi, Sahil Khattar and Chirag Patil in pivotal roles.
