MUMBAI: The entire planet is witnessing never-seen-before extreme weather conditions, especially when it comes to battling the scorching heat. Yes, 2021 is reportedly the hottest year recorded of this century.
India is a country located a few degrees above the equator and the majority of the country witnesses a hot and humid type of climatic conditions with extreme intensity rainfall, while some areas remain arid throughout the year.
Hence, pure cotton wear and garments automatically come to our rescual, which enables us to combat these extreme summer and humid conditions. However, their activity rate doubles effectively when one endorses white or bright coloured garments in mostly pastel hues (like bright yellow, baby pink, sky blue, grass green and neons) since they help to reflect the excess heat. However, experts always recommend white as the standard summer colour for full-time ease.
Now, for those who find totally white garments boring or worry about their excessive bleaching by the concentrated sunlight, they are following the current trend of endorsing the popular 'tie and dye' prints that are flaunted on many different types of summer garments these days (like pants, shorts, dresses, jumpsuits, sweatshirts, (crop) tops, etc.).
Modern-day 'tie-dye' is the reprisal of the old-school dye-printing format on garments, that was coined in the mid-1960s in the United States for the first time. This term is used to refer to a set of ancient resist-dyeing techniques, and for the products of these processes. The process of tie-dye typically consists of folding, twisting, pleating or crumpling fabric or a garment and binding with string or rubber bands, followed by application of dye(s).
The manipulations of the fabric prior to the application of dye are called resists, as they partially or completely prevent the applied dye from colouring the fabric.
Unlike regular resist-dyeing techniques, tie-dye is characterized by the use of bright, saturated primary colours and bold patterns. These popular tie-dye patterns include the spiral, mandala and peace sign; which are pretty cliched and were popularly flaunted in the 60s and 70s, which have undergone a massive reprisal in a span of just two years, to make its comeback in the demand market globally. The abrupt prints in bright and bold colours on the plain white garment turn out as the revolutionary appeal of these garments/ outfits.
