MUMBAI: Track and field athlete Neeraj Chopra has become the talk of the country and that too for amazing reasons.
He won the gold medal in men's javelin throw at the Tokyo Olympics. The entire country celebrated his achievement. Social media was flooded with congratulatory messages. From celebrities to netizens, everyone lauded him for making the country proud in a grand way.

His agility, fitness level, and performance have wowed everyone.
However, did you know as a child he was overweight? Not just this, he was even teased due to this reason.
According to reports, he used to weigh 80 kg at the age of 11-12. There’s a story that when he came out wearing a kurta in the village, the kids teased him by calling him ‘Sarpanch’.
And that fat sarpanch of childhood went on to create history. Interesting, isn’t it?
Born on 24 December 1997, Neeraj Chopra hails from Haryana. He graduated from Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College in Chandigarh. He wanted to be a cricketer, but eventually took up javelin. He made his debut at the Olympics representing India at the 2020 Summer Olympics. He won the gold medal in the men's javelin throw at the Tokyo Olympics, and with this, he became India’s first-ever track and field Olympic gold medalist. The history-maker dedicated his medal to Milkha Singh and P. T. Usha.
