Sonali Naik is seen playing the role of head constable Pushpa Singh. She is the oldest member of The Mahila Police Thana and the Counseling Head.

The senior actress is brilliantly portraying her role and viewers are simply in awe of her stellar performance.

TellyChakkar got in touch with Sonali who spoke at length about the show and much more.

How relatable is your character to you?

I feel every person has some grey shade. No one is completely black or white. Every person has emotions. I have all these qualities and I feel blessed to present them on-screen. I am very happy that I have got such a big platform to portray it.

One thing you learnt from your character.

I am a very happy-go-lucky person. The atmosphere on the set is also very happy. I feel I have started being happy much more than I was. My daughter always tells me that I should stop being Pushpa. I am being the same at my home as well.

Tell us about your bond with Gulki Joshi, Bhavika Sharma, and Yukti Kapoor.

I am very blessed that I have got such a great team, from the producers to the spot boys. None of us is immature in the team. There is no room for jealousy, insecurity, or any kind of other issues which we usually hear about people. All the girls are very mature, independent and have started from scratch as an actor.

What difference do you find in doing a proper daily soap and the cop-drama Maddam Sir?

There is a very big difference. Because when you do a family drama, you have to cry and do much more drama. Meanwhile, if I see from an actor's point of view, this role is quite relaxing. We wear the same costume for the whole day with minimal make-up and jewellery. It's an honour to wear the uniform and the grace that we get wearing this is unmatchable. No amount of fancy costumes, sarees, jewellery can match the honour of a police uniform.

Sonali has previously been a part of shows like Gathbandhan, Yaahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli, among others.
