MUMBAI: The Kapil Sharma Show never fails to impress us with the humor and on point sketches. The show is widely appreciated for its guest judges, excellent performance of the actors and the stellar guest appearances.
Recently Kapil Sharma spoke about how he got his first own programme on Colors TV. During an episode of Fever FM's Bounce Back Bharat Festival, Kapil revealed that he was asked by Colors to host Jhalak Dikhhlaa Jaa.
He said, “This wasn't a show actually. I went to the Colors office, they had called me over, asking if I could host a show. I asked them which one? They said Jhalak Dikhhlaa Jaa. I asked them what will I be required to do? They said you and Maniesh Paul will host it.”
Further, Kapil agreed to host the show and the makers asked him to meet a production house called BBC. He went to meet them and after looking at him, she said, ‘Aap bahut mote hain. Aap thoda wazan kamm karo (You are very fat. Lose some weight).'
Kapil informed the channel about what she told him and the channel called her saying that Kapil was good and he should be taken onboard as a host. So, I asked them, 'Why don't you think about making a comedy show?”
Kapil also mentioned that the makers asked him to make a pitch. He asked for two days for the pitch. He then devised a plan to combine all of his strong points like comedy, sketches etc for the pitch. He said , “I told them everything they needed to know. Five minutes remained after standup, gags, celebrity interviews, and everything else. However, when the show was filmed, it was extended to 120 minutes. “They only required 70 minutes of content.”
He also added that they were unable to figure out how to chop it. As it was difficult to realise when you go overboard when you are chatting. He stated that everyone had intended for 25 episodes, but by the time the season began, they had already completed 500.
Kapil Sharma landed his own show after he worked in The Kapil Sharma Show, in 2016, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, Comedy Circus, and other comedy series.
