Balaji head honcho Ekta Kapoor and director Mohit Suri have cast Sidharth Malhotra to play the lead in their forthcoming film tentatively titled <em>The Villain</em>.
Since the makers were looking for a rugged, good looking action star, Sidharth effortlessly fits the bill.
This film also marks Mohit's first film outside the Bhatt camp.

Balaji head honcho Ekta Kapoor and director Mohit Suri have cast Sidharth Malhotra to play the lead in their forthcoming film tentatively titled The Villain.
Since the makers were looking for a rugged, good looking action star, Sidharth effortlessly fits the bill.
This film also marks Mohit's first film outside the Bhatt camp.
Commenting on the selection of Sidharth Balaji Motion Pictures CEO Tanuj Garg said, “Sidharth has become a hugely popular commodity after Student of the Year and has the appeal, looks and intensity to carry a commercial action-romantic thriller on his shoulders. Mohit is one of the most prolific and accomplished young directors on the scene today. Sid & Mohit together with Balaji, makes for a lethal combination.”
Among the many elements that would comprise the film, action and romance will be prominent. It will be Sidharth's first out-and-out masala film that will showcase him in a new avatar as tomorrow's angry young man.
The makers are yet to identify a female lead opposite Sidharth.
The film will go on floor in September this year and release early next year(2014).
